Draft. This text describes what the game does as it is built now. It is made final before the game is in the stores.
DAMSKO is a game on the map of Amsterdam inside the A10. The game itself collects nothing about you: no tracking code, nobody watching along, no ads. Everything is on your own device. Something only goes to a server when you choose that yourself; below is exactly what and where.
Our promise
If anything is ever added that sends data, it is off until you turn it on, and it is described on this page and in the game (Settings > PRIVACY AND DATA). If you pick your own home as a starting point in the game, that address stays on your device: it does not go to us and not to other players.
What stays on your own device
Your save, your money, your vehicles, the name and look of your character and your settings are only on your own device. In the app there is a backup in the app's own storage, also on your device. We cannot reach any of it. Delete the game or erase its data and it is gone.
The leaderboard
If you join the leaderboard, we store the name you type for it yourself (the game does not fill in your character's name) and your numbers from the game (such as kilometres driven and jobs done). That is stored at Google Firebase. There is no e-mail address or account: you are signed in without a name. So do not pick a name that people can recognise you by.
Playing together
In a room, your character's name and look, your vehicle and your place in the game go to the other players in that room, through our server. It is passed on and not stored: leave the room and it is gone. There is no chat.
Reporting or hiding someone
If you see a name or room in play together or on the leaderboard that is not okay, you can report it. Something only goes to us when you pick a reason yourself. We then send what you report (a player, a room or a leaderboard name), that name and the room code, and the reason. Nothing about you: no name, no device, and we do not store your IP address; we only use it to stop reports coming in too often, and then forget it. A report is deleted after 90 days. You can also hide a player: you no longer see their name and face. That stays on your own device and the other player does not notice.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications in the iPhone app, we store the code your device gets from Apple for it, and the date, so we can send a message about an event or a new version. There is no name or account with it. Turn notifications off and we remove the code.
Reporting a bug
The pause menu has REPORT A BUG. Something only goes to us when you fill in that window yourself and press SEND. We then send what you wrote, the game version, the kind of device (for example "iPhone, the app") and your screen size, your place in the game (a point on the map and the street name) and the game's last error messages, if there are any. The window shows exactly what is sent. There is no name, e-mail address or account with it, and we do not store your IP address. If sending fails, nothing is stored, not even on your device. A report stays with us for at most a year and is then deleted. Since nothing of you is in it, we cannot link it to you; if you want one removed, mail us what you wrote.
Who else is involved
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Brings this website, play together and bug reports to you and protects against attacks. Sees your IP address, like any website. |
| Google Firebase | Stores the leaderboard. |
| Apple | Delivers notifications on your iPhone, if you turned them on. |
| The store you get the game from | Apple, Google or Steam have their own rules for your account and purchases. |
Age
DAMSKO is made for players of 16 and older. We do not ask for personal data, and there is no way to talk to strangers through the game.
Your rights (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, in Dutch AVG) gives you the right to know what is stored about you, to have it corrected and to have it erased. This is how that works for DAMSKO:
- Erasing you do yourself: in the game under Settings > PRIVACY AND DATA > ERASE EVERYTHING. That removes everything on your device, your name and numbers from the leaderboard and the code for notifications.
- Seeing or correcting: mail [email protected] with the name you use on the leaderboard. You get an answer within a month.
- How long: the leaderboard and the code for notifications stay until you erase them or ask us to remove them. Play together is not stored. A bug report is deleted after a year, a report about a player or room after 90 days.
- Why we may store this: because you choose it yourself (consent). You withdraw it by turning it off or erasing it.
- Complaints: if we cannot sort it out together, you can go to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
The maker of the game is responsible for DAMSKO, reachable at [email protected].
